The Community Music Mondays program is a partnership between Manhattan Youth and Trinity Wall Street . Our mission is to give the people of Lower Manhattan opportunities to hear and to participate in chamber music in an informal, family-friendly setting.
All performances are free. We play 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM every Monday evening (with occasional breaks for holidays, etc.) at the Manhattan Youth Downtown Community Center, 120 Warren Street in NYC. The Center is located between West and Greenwich Streets, one block south of Chambers Street, across from Whole Foods, east of The Palm and the parking garage entrance, west of P.S. 234 and the dog run, etc. The Center phone number is 212-766-1104.
We began Community Music Mondays in September, 2010. Our program is anchored by the Trinity Chamber Players String Quartet, augmented by guest musicians and musicians from our community. At the present time we offer opportunities for participation primarily to players of violin, viola, and cello, but we are open to scheduling repertoire for other instruments as well.
Each week, the Trinity Chamber Players reads one or two works from the chamber music repertoire, and invites our community musicians to join us in reading additional works. If you have any questions, or if you wish to join us, please e-mail Jim Hopkins at Jim@downtowncommunitycenter.org.
